ABOUT OKINAWA GOJU-RYU KARATE
At our Brackenfell Dojo, we proudly practice Okinawan Goju-Ryu, the style made famous by Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid movies. Founded by Chojun Miyagi, our dojo is affiliated with the Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karatedo Kyokai, maintaining the pure lineage of this esteemed master. If you’re curious about the history of Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate do Kyokai (OGKK), check out this informative chronology: https://ogkk.jp/history_en.html.
Goju-Ryu Karate isn’t just a martial art – it’s a journey of self-discovery. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be big and strong to excel; intelligence, self-awareness, and consistent training are key. In today’s world, self-defence is crucial, making martial arts classes a valuable investment for yourself or your loved ones.
We welcome students as young as 4 years old, though the preferred starting age for Karate is 5 years old. Our instructors assess readiness to ensure the best fit for each child. Join us at IMAA and embark on a journey of growth, discipline, and achievement through martial arts training.
